Protecting your data and privacy
I adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that came into effect on 25th May 2018. This means that any data that I hold, including my session notes and any contact information will be stored securely. I make brief session notes and these are stored in a locked filing cabinet and remain separate from your name and telephone number.
All data remains protected and confidential except in the event of possible harm to self or others. I would endeavour to inform you in advance if I were to break confidentiality for any reason. After work ends, I will delete all personal contact details, though I am required to hold a copy of client notes for up to seven years. It is your legal right to request these notes if you should need to.
All of this information is included in my contract, alongside details of fee, location, frequency of sessions and required notice to end. Any planned holiday dates will also be included. As part of the GDPR requirements, I will require you to sign this and therefore give me permission to store your notes and contact details safely.
There will be times when I need to discuss our work with my supervisor or colleagues. Your identity would always be protected.
